The night before an exam

The night before an exam, I am usually doing last-minute studying.

This time, I had one exam left over to pass after I was done with the others, so I spent the last night counselling myself instead.

Don’t think too much.

Breathe.

It’s going to be all right.

It’s like how it says in the book “Stop worrying and start living”, just consider the worst possible scenario and if you can live with it (and in most cases you can, in the long run) then you don’t really have anything to worry about.

So what if I fail.

It’s a lot of adjustment and sweat and tears, but hey—nothing you can’t swallow.

If you look at the big picture of life, at the end of the day you end up doing something or other. Whether you like it or not is another story, but you can live with most things. Human nature is tougher than you expect. You don’t know it but you can handle it. After the tears have passed, you adjust and you move on. Like my father says, “sleep on it”—which reminds me, I should get some sleep before my exam.

Let’s see how this one goes!

  1. Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) said, “Angels come to you in succession by night and day and all of them get together at the time of the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. Those who have passed the night with you (or stayed with you) ascend (to the Heaven) and Allah asks them, though He knows everything about you, well, “In what state did you leave my slaves?” The angels reply: “When we left them they were praying and when we reached them, they were praying.”

      1. I never forget anything you have written that I have read. Thank you for that. Far be it for me to brag, although my best pal always used to say to me, “bragging isn’t pretty.”, I’m good enough to recognise a shining star that we are all certain shall never never go out when we gaze in your direction. Thank you for that to.
